Important information
You should not take this medication if you are allergic to Tramadol 100mg:
If you have ever been addicted to drugs, alcohol or if you have ever attempted suicide.
Do not take Tramadol 100mg while you are intoxicated (drunk) or taking any of the following:
o Alcohol
o Street drugs
o Narcotic pain medicine
o Sedatives or tranquilizers
o Medicine for depression
o Anxiety or mental illness.
Seizures (convulsions) have occurred in some people taking this medicine. Tramadol 100mg may be more likely to cause a seizure if you have a history of seizures or head injury, a metabolic disorder, or if you are taking certain medicines such as antidepressants, muscle relaxers, narcotic, or medicine for nausea and vomiting.
Seek emergency medical attention if you think you have used too much of this medicine.
USES:
Tramadol 100mg is used to relieve moderate pain. It is similar to narcotic pain medications. It works on certain nerves in the brain that control how you experience pain.
DOSING FOR TRAMADOL:
The recommended Tramadol 100mg (immediate release tablets) every 4-6 hours as needed for pain. The maximum dose is 400 mg/day. To improve tolerance patients should be started at 25 mg/day, and doses may be increased by 25 mg every 3 days to reach 100 mg/day (25 mg 4 times daily). Thereafter, doses can be increased by 50 mg every 3 days to reach 200 mg day (50 mg 4 times daily). Tramadol 100mg may be taken with or without food.
Recommended dose for extended release tablets is 100 mg daily which may be increased by 100 mg every 5 days but not to exceed 300 mg /day. Extended release tablets should be swallowed whole and not crushed or chewed.
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
A Tramadol 100mg overdose can be fatal. Overdose symptoms may include extreme drowsiness, shallow breathing, muscle weakness, slow heartbeat, cold or clammy skin, fainting, or seizure.
SIDE EFFECTS:
Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction to Tramadol 100mg:
hives
difficulty breathing
Swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Commonly reported side effects include
Nausea, constipation, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, and vomiting. Less commonly reported side effects include itching, sweating, dry mouth, diarrhea, rash, visual disturbances, and vertigo. Some patients who received Tramadol 100mg have reported seizures. Abrupt withdrawal of Tramadol 100mg may result in anxiety, sweating, insomnia, rigors, pain, nausea, diarrhea, tremors, and hallucinations.
TRAMADOL 100 MG INTERACTIONS:
Your doctor or pharmacist may already be aware of any possible drug interactions and may be monitoring you for them. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first. This drug should not be used with the following medications because very serious MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, isocarboxazid, linezolid, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, rasagiline, selegiline, tranylcypromine) avoid taking MAO inhibitors within 2 weeks before, during, and after treatment with Tramadol 100mg. If you are currently using any of these medications listed above, tell your doctor or pharmacist before starting Tramadol. Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and nonprescription/herbal products you may use, especially of: other narcotic medications. Before using Tramadol, report the use of other drugs that increase serotonin. The risk of serotonin syndrome may be more likely when you start or increase the dose of these medications. Also report the use of drugs that might increase seizure risk when combined with Tramadol 100mg such as isoniazid (INH), phenothiazines (e.g., thioridazine, chlorpromazine)
CONTRADICTION:
Tramadol 100mg should not be administered to patients who have previously demonstrated hypersensitivity to Tramadol, any other component of this product or opioids. It is contraindicated in any situation where opioids are contraindicated, including acute intoxication with any of the following: alcohol, hypnotics, and narcotics, centrally acting analgesics, opioids or psychotropic drugs. It may worsen central nervous system and respiratory depression in these patients.
